The Effects of Witchcraft Attack

witchcraft attackWitchcraft is very deceptive and can manifest itself in our lives in many ways. The enemy uses witchcraft attack to either weaken us, or to bring us into alignment with his kingdom. Each type of witchcraft has a specific purpose and intent. It could be to hinder your walk with God, and the call He has on your life. It could be to weaken your ministry or tear apart your family. It could be to keep you physically weak and distracted, depressed or hopeless. The end game of witchcraft is always to steal, kill and destroy.

Witchcraft can come from different sources. It can come from people who are using their will and intent to cause you harm, or it can come from someone astral traveling to your location to do witchcraft on you. Anyone can do witchcraft, and it is not limited to only witches, etc. Witchcraft is also not limited to the living, but also the souls of the dead who have made a pact with Satan can use astral travel to harass the living with witchcraft.

Witchcraft attack often targets areas that should be protected by the Armor of God. The Armor of God consists of seven pieces, which is the number of completion. Each piece correlates with areas of weakness where we are vulnerable to attack from Satan. Here I have given a brief overview on the Armor, but I will go more in depth into it in a future post.

The Helmet of Salvation protects our belief systems, how we see the world, our mind, including how we think and judge things around us.

The Breastplate of Righteousness protects our heart, will, mind and emotions.

The Belt of Truth protects our thoughts and our self control. It holds the armor together.

The Shoes of the Gospel of Peace protect our relationships, our interactions with self and with others.

The Sword of the Spirit protects our relationship with God, including our worship, praise, scripture reading & understanding and praying.

The Shield of Faith protects our spirit and our spiritual self.

Praying in the Spirit activates our armor and brings us to completeness, as well as heightens our awareness of the Spirit.

Below I have listed the areas we experience witchcraft and the symptoms that may come with it. This is not a complete list, but a list of many of the common effects.

My dear sister, I know you love the Lord, and that you have a heart for those who are enslaved in/combating the very real enemy of our souls, but one of your statements at the beginning of today’s post is simply not biblical.

“Witchcraft is also not limited to the living, but also the souls of the dead who have made a pact with Satan can use astral travel to harass the living with witchcraft.”

When someone dies, they either go straight to heaven or to hell. Those in hell have absolutely no power whatsoever to come back and torment the living. Nor would they want to; their suffering is so beyond our capabilities to grasp, that the only thing they would be seeking is the relief that they will never get.

I implore you to realign yourself with the Word of God and not to let the enemy derail you from a ministry – that when rightly rooted in the truth of Scripture – can have a significant impact for the kingdom of God. Blessings! : )

      Dear Kim
Thank you so much for bringing this question to light. It is a common misconception that spirits of the dead are not real and have no power to affect us in our living world. I myself was a firm believer that ghosts were not real, and that when you die you either go to heaven or hell. It was the Holy Spirit that began to teach me that their are those who give themselves over to the powers of darkness while alive, and make covenants with death that allow their spirits to stay here instead of moving on to their judgement. I understand that this concept is rather disturbing, and I would love for it to no be so, because I have been very harassed by spirits of my deceased relatives.

Here is the passage from the Bible that describes this covenant with death. “Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:” Isaiah 28:15

Another example of the dead influencing us is in 1 Samuel 28:7-19 where Saul conjures the spirit of the prophet Samuel and speaks to him. Mediums and necromancy are spoken of in the Bible. Necromancy is the raise or summon spirits of the dead. Through prayer and seeking the Lord we can find answers to these types of questions and hear directly from the Holy Spirit. He wants to reveal these truths to us, so that we do not rely on the teachings of man. The devil has influenced so many teachings, leading generations astray into false teachings. If we don’t believe that spirits of the deceased can affect our lives, then we are helpless to stop them. Therefore, the devil absolutely wants to convince us this is not a lie. Thankfully God has given us many examples in scripture that we can use to get a better understanding on the truth.

Dear Paula and Kim respectfully I completely understand where you are coming from and respect your comments and insights. My question is if Jesus cast out demons then where did they come from? The earth has not changed in a million years either has His word. God is the same yesterday today and forever. Why would Paul write for we do not wrestle against flesh and blood but against principalities, powers, rulers of darkness and wickedness in heavenly places. Why would He write the devil roams about as a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour? I implore you to look at these scriptures and study them for yourself I pray the Holy Spirit of God open your eyes to see that what you do not see is as real as what you can see. I thank God for Beth and the wisdom Abba Father has given to her. Please forgive me for standing up and speaking the truth in love. We need to
Love one another as Christ Jesus loved us and be kind and always exhorting one another. Wouldn’t the devil just love to cause strife and division amongst us. I encourage you to pray for your sister Beth Ephesians 1 over her and Psalm 91. I Bless You in the name
Of Jesus Christ My Lord May God protect you and keep you under the shadow of His wings , Psalm 91

can you explain more in depth what you mean in this part of your blog.. I am trying to understand.

Witchcraft is also not limited to the living, but also the souls of the dead who have made a pact with Satan can use astral travel to harass the living with witchcraft.

I understood that once your in hell you can’t do anything but are in a place of torment.

Great post, Beth. This is a good reminder for me. I struggle with traits under all the symptoms with the least in bodily symptoms.

You wrote, and someone remarked that it was unbiblical, “Witchcraft is also not limited to the living, but also the souls of the dead who have made a pact with Satan can use astral travel to harass the living with witchcraft.” Unfortunately, not everything is spelled out in the Bible; but I’m glad you reminded us of the places in the Bible where we are forbidden to consult with evil spirits as well as dead human spirits:

“There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, or one who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer, 11 or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead” (Deut. 18:10-11).

I saw that it says right there that there are people who can “[call] up the dead.” It doesn’t say they call up demons, so here God says plainly that the dead can be called up. Thanks for the reminder. Thanks for your posts. I hope you and your family are doing well and experiencing God’s blessings.

please show me 5 verses in context where souls in hell can go back to earth to torment the living because it is appointed for a man once to die and after this the judgement and other scripture like that

if someone makes a pact with satan of any kind and does not become born again and repent of what they have done their judgement is hell and the person chose to go there to say that a soul that was put in hell by God can come back up to earth and torment the living because they chose to make a pact with satan is unbiblical and if you can show me 5 verses in context then what is talked about is biblical I am not being religious about this stuff its literally nowhere I looked in the bible and samuel in the bible didn’t come back from the dead to talk to saul if you check in the scriptures the guy disobeyed God (rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft) went to a witch to contact the dead (contacted a witch to open up to familiar spirits so that could be considered a medium) and then the witch conjured up a spirit under the name of samuel and I can literally pick those verses apart I talked with someone for 20-25 minutes all Holy Ghost led and I used a lot of scripture and it was more than 3 verses in context explaining that it was a familiar spirit and not actually samuel talking to saul

they do that nearly all the time at seances where mediums are involved to contact the dead the familiar spirit can look like the person talk like the person and act like the person that is how a lot of people are fooled by it because they actually think its the person they are contact to get answers about someone or something

don’t know how this reply stuff works for blogs so if I don’t reply back right away I apologize

Souls in hell do not come back to the earth. That would be immpossible. Please read my previous comments about pacts with death. If you make a pact with death to remain here after your body dies, you are not saved nor are you going to be saved.

Concerning your comment about the souls of the dead, could another possibility be that there are demonic spirits “familiar” with the deceased who are masquerading as the spirit of the dead person in an attempt to deceive and draw attention to themselves and away from Christ. One reason the soul goes to heaven or hell is because they belong to one realm or the other through faith, or lack of faith, in the Lord Jesus Christ. People tend to think they control their own destiny when, in truth, they are “owned” by those in spiritual authority over them…either God and the kingdom of light or Satan and realm of darkness. It’s difficult to imagine that once Satan has captured a lost soul after death that he would “set it loose” to wander around attempting to cast spells. Concerning Samuel, since he was a righteous prophet of God, he was in the realm of the righteous dead in Abraham’s bosom, or paradise. Even the witch of Endor was surprised and frightened when the actual Samuel showed up. I think God allowed Samuel to return in order to pronounce a judgment on Saul for what he was trying to do. One danger in people believing that the souls of their dead loved ones are roaming around is that it may cause them to try to somehow contact them through necromancy or through spiritualists who claim to see and talk to dead people even though that practice is forbidden by God. I believe it’s forbidden because people are, in fact, dealing with dark and deceptive spirits without knowing it which can cause them to be ensnared and trapped themselves. The only other place in scripture that I know of where the souls of the dead are seen on the earth is when Moses and Elijah appeared to Jesus on the Mount of Transfiguration, and, of course, when Jesus appeared to many after his death. Both of these situations were a part of God’s plan. I personally know of a great man of God who briefly interacted with the soul of a mentor of his who had died years before who had been sent by God from heaven with a message to deliver. This man was reluctant to talk about his experience with his dead mentor because, I believe, he felt people would ridicule him and it would cause controversy in his ministry. He was completely surprised by the encounter, and never sought to try and contact this person’s soul. I’ve heard of other events like this where a believing dead husband would briefly show up to give some info to a grieving wife to help her with something she and her family needed to continue in this life. Again, I believe these things happen because God allows it for his purposes. Still, one interesting tidbit in scripture is when Jesus was walking on the water in the middle of the night and the disciples, when they saw him, thought he was a “ghost”. They obviously believed in ghosts and Jesus didn’t try to persuade them that ghosts didn’t exist; but he just simply told them to stop being afraid because he wasn’t one. But, for my understanding of scripture, the best explanation of people having interactions with the unrighteous dead, or “ghosts”, is that they are seeing deceiving demonic spirits. Blessings.

    1. The Other Side of Darkness

Yes there are demons that pose as spirits of the dead. However, it is not the same thing as the spirits of the deceased that harass the living.
A soul does not go to hell because of lack of faith in Christ, it goes to hell because it has utterly rejected Jesus Christ and is in fact evil.
No one is owned by God – otherwise we would have no free will. We are free to chose what we want in this life; Jesus or Satan.
Spirits of the deceased have not been capture by Satan after death, the pact is made in their life. Spirits of the deceased do not wander around, they have purpose. They do not attempt witchcraft, the achieve it.
